NCUA Chairman Harper’s Nomination for Full Term Advances in the Senate

WASHINGTON—The nomination of current NCUA board Chairman Todd Harper to serve a full term on the NCUA board was advanced to the full Senate by the Senate Banking Committee in a 17-7 bipartisan vote while meeting in Executive Session.

The full Senate will still need to consider the nomination for Harper to be confirmed.

The Senate Banking Committee met in October to discuss Harper's nomination. During the hearing, Harper detailed his priorities regarding climate change regulation, cybersecurity, and more.

Harper was nominated by President Joe Biden in August; his previous term on the NCUA board ended in April of 2021 and he has been serving in a holdover capacity. If confirmed, Harper’s term would expire April 2027.
