NCUA Board to Meet Today; Agency to Host Webinar Today on Serving Hispanic Market

ALEXANDRIA, Va. –Three items are on the agenda for today’s NCUA board meeting.

The agency will address a notice of proposed rulemaking regarding amending and simplifying its share insurance rules, as well as a proposal to enact the Fair Hiring in Banking Act.

In addition, staff will deliver an update on the agency’s cybersecurity programs and cybersecurity trends in the industry, the agency said.

According to the NCUA’s 2023 spring rulemaking agenda, the agency has been considering a rule to establish a trust accounts category to govern both revocable and irrevocable trusts and provide consistent treatment for mortgage servicing account balances that are held to satisfy principal and interest obligations to a lender, NAFCU noted.

Additionally, the board and staff plan to discuss a proposed rule that would replace a lifetime ban for those with disqualifying convictions to work in the banking sector and create an exception for criminal acts committed before the age of 21. The rule would enact the Fair Hiring in Banking Act, which was passed in last year’s National Defense Authorization Act.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. ET and is available via livestream on the agency’s website. CUToday.info will provide complete coverage.
