ALEXANDRIA, Va.–NCUA has banned one person from working in credit unions with the issuance of a single prohibition notice in September.
Issued the prohibition notice was Brooke Shaeffer, a former employee of Member’s 1st Federal Credit Union in Mechanicsburg, Penn., who was sentenced on the charge of theft in connection with her employment.
According to PennLive.com, Shaeffer, a former teller, said she was battling drug addiction at the time of the theft of more than $19,599 from the credit union.
Shaeffer, 24, avoided federal prison and was sentenced to five years of probation by U.S. Middle District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson. Shaeffer admitted to the theft and has made full restitution, PennLive.com reported.
NCUA reminded prohibition and administrative orders are searchable by name, institution, city, state, and year at the NCUA’s Administrative Orders webpage. The webpage also provides links to the federal enforcement actions of federal banking agencies against other institutions or their affiliated parties.
