ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.—Credit unions that are part of the Northeast Chapter of the Carolinas Credit Union League have partnered with the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation to offer free financial counseling to QVC employees who have been impacted by the recent warehouse fire.
The December fire, which destroyed approximately 75% of the facility that is the size of 30 football fields, affected approximately 1,200 workers.
The Carolinas league said virtual appointments are available Monday through Saturday and can be requested at any time at https://carolinasfoundation.org/financial-first-responders/. Individuals do not have to be a member of a credit union to request assistance, the league noted.
According to the CCUL, the program’s primary focus is providing short-term counseling around budgeting/cash flow, managing retirement funds, replacing lost income, minimizing damage to credit, and navigating entry into retirement.
Counseling services are being provided on a volunteer basis by local credit union employees who have received nationally-recognized credentials specifically to provide financial counseling, or who have trained under a comparable course of study, the leagues said.
