ARLINGTON, Va.–The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) is now accepting nominations for its 2019 NASCUS Pierre Jay Award.
The award honors an individual or entity that has made significant contributions to the state credit union system, with previous recipients having demonstrated outstanding service, leadership and commitment to strengthening and enhancing the state credit unions. Nominations will be accepted until May 31.
According to NASCUS, submissions for this year’s Pierre Jay Award will be carefully evaluated by a committee of state credit union regulators and credit union industry executives, including a former award honoree.
This year's selection committee members are:
- John Kolhoff, Commissioner, Credit Union Department, Texas
- Rick Stipa, CEO, TruMark Financial Credit Union
- Diana Dykstra, President & CEO, California/Nevada Credit Union Leagues
- Robert Cashman, President & CEO, Metro Credit Union, Massachusetts
- Ron McDaniel, former President and CEO, California Credit Union & 2018 Pierre Jay Award Honoree
“We have assembled an exemplary selection committee to identify an individual or entity that has relentlessly participated in and overwhelmingly supported the state credit union system by action,” said NASCUS President and CEO Lucy Ito. “In August, when the state system gathers in San Francisco for our 2019 State System Summit, we will honor a worthy recipient with the Pierre Jay Award.”
The NASCUS Summit is Aug. 13 -16 at The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square.

Created in 1997 by NASCUS, the Pierre Jay Award honors the first Commissioner of Banks in Massachusetts, Pierre Jay. “He learned of the cooperative credit union movement in Milan, Italy and quickly embraced the concept,” NASCUS said. “Working with philanthropist and credit union pioneer Edward Filene of Boston, and despite objections from the banking industry, Jay went on to champion credit union development in the United States. Through Jay's perseverance and service, he profoundly shaped credit union history.”
