NAFCU’s Berger Talks CU Tax Exemption In Meeting With Ways & Means Chair

Dan Berger (L) and Kevin Brady

WASHINGTON—NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger emphasized the importance of the credit union tax exemption during a private meeting with House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX).

The issue is being raised at the same time the American Bankers Association has named the CU tax exemption as among its areas of focus in the new Congress, as CUToday.info reported here.

Brady, Berger and NAFCU senior staff discussed the committee’s potential plans for tax reform this year and how the credit union tax exemption benefits the larger economy. They also discussed other top credit union concerns and NAFCU’s top advocacy priorities for 2017.
Berger also met with Brady earlier this week on the first day of the 115th Congress, when NAFCU senior staff went to Capitol Hill to promote credit union interests and welcome new and returning legislators.
