NAFCU Welcomes 4 New Bills; Here’s What's on Hearings Schedule for Week

WASHINGTON–NAFCU is welcoming several of  pieces of legislation announced last week, saying the bipartisan support is a good sign even if none of the bills pass Congress this year. That support only adds to the likelihood of passage in the next Congress or for the addition of provisions within the bills to be attached to other legislation.

As CUToday.info reported here, during CUNA’s GAC last week members of Congress announced a quartet of legislation sought by credit unions, including the Board Governance Modernization Act; a Senate Bill that would raise federal credit union loan maturity limits on non-mortgage loans from 15 to 20 years; the Credit Union Fairness Act, and the Credit Union Governance Modernization Act

NAFCU’s Brad Thaler, VP-legislative affairs, noted NAFCU has been working with a number of  members of Congress on several of the bills for some time. “The support keeps the bills in the mix,” said Thaler. “Anything that passes in the current environment is a positive step.”
