ARLINGTON, Va.–With its first-ever virtual Congressional Caucus now in the rear view mirror, NAFCU said it is excited over not just how well the event went, but also over how the virtual Hill hikes went, as well.
NAFCU EVP/General Council Carrie Hunt, who acted as emcee of the two-day event, said the trade group was very happy with the mixture of speakers, drawn from Congress, the Administration, pundits and its own staff, and how those remarks were received.
She said feedback was especially positive from participants on the session featuring two members of Congress talking about the Problem Solving Caucus, which CUToday.info reported here.
“It is a shift,” agreed Hunt. “We prefer to see our members in person. But we’ve had good feedback” about the virtual Caucus. “One real positive was the Hill meetings.”
The meetings are typically held over the two-and-a-half days Caucus is typically held in person, but this year NAFCU and credit unions were able to “extend the impact” over a longer period of time, she said. “It’s not now or never.”
Similar Mix
Hunt said the virtual environment does not seem to have affected credit unions, with the mix of members of Congress and staff members remaining approximately the same.
Hunt added the two virtual “receptions” that were part of Caucus also worked very well, with the technology allowing for dialogue and discussion, including breakout sessions, among NAFCU-member CUs.
“The technology is there and credit unions were able to take advantage of it,” she said.
