NAFCU Kicks Off Its 51st Annual Conference; Announces Board Election Results

SEATTLE – NAFCU has kicked off its 51st Annual Conference and Solutions Expo here. The meeting runs through the evening of June 22.

"Ensuring credit unions can grow stronger is our mission at NAFCU, and our goal each year at our annual conference is to put on the best strategic planning event to help them to do so," said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. "This year, we'll be talking about the power of change, including some of the biggest challenges facing the industry and what credit unions must do today to succeed tomorrow. We don't just talk and put on a show – this annual conference is about arming credit union members and executives with the tools they want and need."

NAFCU Board Elections

Separately, following its annual business meeting NAFCU announced its newly elected and continuing members of its 2018 - 2019 board.

Jeanne Kucey, president and CEO of JetStream Federal Credit Union, has been elected as NAFCU's board chair.

"I welcome this opportunity to serve alongside NAFCU's officers and board members in this new role," said Kucey. "NAFCU is the No. 1 advocacy organization for credit unions and is very well-respected among lawmakers, regulators and the administration. I look forward to continuing to elevate credit union issues before all those in Washington and fostering a positive climate where our institutions and members can grow and thrive."

NAFCU officers for 2018-2019 are:

  • Jeanne Kucey, chair and Region III Director – president and CEO of JetStream Federal Credit Union in Miami Lakes, Fla.
  • Debra Schwartz, vice chairman and Director-at-Large – president and CEO of Mission Federal Credit Union in San Diego
  • Thomas W. DeWitt, treasurer and Region IV Director – president and CEO of State Farm Federal Credit Union is Bloomington, Ill.
  • Gary A. Grinnell, secretary and Region I Director – president and CEO of Corning Federal Credit Union in Corning, N.Y.

 Other board members are:

  • ​Robert L. Fisher, Director-at-Large – president and CEO of Grow Financial Federal Credit Union in Tampa
  • Richard L. Harris, Region V Director – president and CEO of Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union in La Canada, Calif.
  • James A. Kenyon, Director-at-Large – president and CEO of Whitefish Credit Union  in Whitefish, Mont.
  • Jan N. Roche, Director-at-Large – president and CEO of State Department Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Va.
