NAFCU Joins with Other Groups in Meeting New FCC Commissioner to Discuss TCPA

WASHINGTON—NAFCU joined with a group of organizations that met with newly-confirmed Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Nathan Simington and representatives from the agency's Consumer and Government Affairs Bureau to offer recommendations on exemptions under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

During the meeting, the group urged the commission to exempt callers whose outbound calls are governed by another regulatory regime from the numeric limitation.

In addition, the group urged against the placement of a numerical limitation on the number of exempted informational calls or exempted financial institution calls.

NAFCU also recently met with the FCC to discuss erroneous call blocking under the TRACED Act and the commission's notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) seeking comment on various exemptions that have been issued under the TCPA.
