NAFCU Confident Reg Relief Bill Will Pass Senate

Brad Thaler, NAFCU

WASHINGTON—NAFCU is optimistic that S 2155, the Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act, will pass the Senate.

“As we saw Tuesday there is very broad bipartisan support for the legislation as it got the 67 votes needed to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed,” said NAFCU VP of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler. “Usually, if there is going to be movement to stop a bill, this is where it would happen. The legislation cleared a pretty significant hurdle Tuesday. We are optimistic this legislation will pass the Senate, whether that be this week or next.”

Is somewhat of a unique move for NAFCU, whose lobbying efforts are typically focused within D.C., the trade association had launched a statewide campaign with its member CUs to generate local-based support for S 2155.
