WASHINGTON—NAFCU and CUNA have written to NCUA with recommendations for improvements to the agency’s request forms for board members and staff to participate in various speaking engagements.
The agency is seeking approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for a new information collection related to the forms.
To improve the speaker request process, NAFCU and CUNA recommended NCUA:
- Streamline request forms by reevaluating existing forms to ensure all fields are relevant to certain meeting requirements, and to make some fields optional
- Enhance visibility of the process by detailing directly to credit unions and on the agency’s website the requirements for requesting a meeting, specifically for a meeting with agency staff
- Provide status updates on the request process, including a point of contact who is moving the request through the approval process
- Share aggregate information on the number of meeting requests received and the number of meetings granted, including whether at the board or staff level
