NAFCU Board Elections Now Open, With 3 Positions Available

ARLINGTON, Va.—NAFCU's 2021 board election cycle is now open with three director positions available – two at-large seats and one Eastern Region seat – all for three-year terms. Two incumbents are seeking re-election.

NAFCU said its regional board positions reflect the NCUA's restructuring of its regional representation.

At-Large Director Lisa Schlehuber, CEO of Elements Financial Federal Credit Union, Indianapolis, Ind.,  is running for re-election to a full term, after being elected to serve the remaining year of the term she was appointed to fill in 2020. Eastern Region Director and current Treasurer Gary Grinnell, president and CEO of Corning FCU in Corning, N.Y., is running to serve another three-year term.

Current NAFCU Board Chair and At-Large Director Debra Schwartz, president and CEO of Mission FCU in San Diego, is term-limited and is not eligible for re-election.

NAFCU explained there are two ways to be nominated to run for any of the three open NAFCU board seats: Complete and submit a candidate application to the Nominating Committee; or, by petition, obtain at least five valid nominating ballots from NAFCU members.

More Details

Candidate applications are due to the committee April 14. Nominating ballots, which will go out May 5, must be returned by May 19. Official ballots for voting in both the at-large and regional elections will be sent May 26, NAFCU said.

The board election results will be announced at NAFCU's Annual Business Meeting, scheduled to be held virtually July 27. Additional information is available here.
