“Credit unions are continuing their relentless efforts to help Americans recover from hardships caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Their commitment to supporting all communities, including those hit hardest by the crisis, must continue to be recognized by members of Congress,” said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. “In these uncertain times, NAFCU and its determined board of directors have high expectations in 2022 to help the credit unions meet the needs of Main Street America, and is eager to continue working with the Biden administration to achieve those goals."

According to NAFCU the trade association will continue to build upon its five tenets, including:

  • Growth: “Advocating for legislation and regulation that helps credit unions grow membership, loans and retained earnings.”
  • Technology and Innovation: “Supporting innovation so credit unions can use developing technologies to better compete in the marketplace.”
  • Regulatory Relief: “Reducing regulatory burden through targeted rulemaking and clear rules of the road.”
  • Data Protection: “Encouraging federal standards for data privacy and data security that recognize existing regulatory requirements for credit unions.”
  • Fair Market: “Fighting back against meritless banker attacks and ensuring under-regulated market participants do not have an unfair advantage.”
