NACUSO Network Coverage: New CUSOs of the Year, CUSO of the Year, Distinguished Service Award Presented

LAS VEGAS–NACUSO has named its New CUSOs of the Year, presented its Distinguished Service Award and further honored its CUSO of the Year.

NACUSO recognized the CUSOs during its Network meeting in Las Vegas. The awards were presented by Dean Young, EVP with PSCU, and John Janclaes, CEO of Nymbus.

2023 New CUSO of the Year

NACUSO said the voting was so tight it opted to recognize two new CUSOs of the Year. The winners are:

  • Arkatechture, a tech company that seeks to “provide a better understanding of their organization through data.” The company said its CU clients saw a 31% growth in assets from 2021 to 2022. It currently serves 32 CUs.
  • Reseda Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of MSUFCU in Michigan that invests in fintechs, 25 to date, along with other companies. It collaborates with other CUs to provide all CUs with access to various technologies,” according to the CUSO, which said it offers those solutions to other credit unions.

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award went to Origence, which offers lending solutions to credit unions, particularly auto loans (funding $78 billion in such loans in 2022) on behalf of 1,100. The company, which works with 13,000 auto dealers, reported net income of $13 million.  It has done 21 million loans during its existence.

CEO Tony Boutelle noted the company—formed with $400,000 in original equity-- has been through a lot in its three-decade history, but, “I think CUSOs make credit unions better and we go as credit unions go. The value proposition is creating an aggregation of credit unions together to be better than any one credit union can be. That is going to be critical as the next changes come on. I say to all the CUSOs in the room, lean into each other.”

CUSO of the Year

Centennial Lending, a provider of mortgages, leases and commercial lending solutions, was named CUSO of the Year.

NACUSO said what really stood out about the Firestone, Colo.-based company was the “good work” the company did during COVID. In addition, Centennial Lending has a Net Promoter Score of 85.

The company serves more than 100 credit unions and services more than $2 billion in loans and leases.

Centennial Lending said its auto lease servicing program grew more than 50% in 2021-22.  It also returned $15 million revenue to owners and partner CUs.
