MCLEAN, Va.-- The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dipped this past week, averaging 6.37%, Freddie Mac reported.
“Mortgage rates ticked down this week, averaging 6.37%,” said Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist. “The decrease in rates represents a positive development for prospective homebuyers and could spark a more favorable spring homebuying season than last year.”
The 30-year FRM averaged 6.37% as of April 9, down from last week when it averaged 6.46%. A year ago at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 6.62%. The 15-year FRM averaged 5.74%, down from last week when it averaged 5.77%. A year ago at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 5.82%, Freddie Mac said.
