WASHINGTON–CUNA said it is expecting more than 5,000 attendees when its Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) launches this weekend, with CU representatives from all 50 states to be on hand.

During the event more than 600 meetings will be held with elected officials and regulators, CUNA said.

Among those who will be speaking to the meeting are NCUA’s J. Mark McWatters and Rick Metsger, former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID), SBA Administrator Linda McMahon, and best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell.

The meeting formally opens on Sunday, with a full agenda on Monday and Tuesday, and credit unions hiking the Hill on Wednesday and Thursday.

The National Credit Union Foundation will also host its Herb Wegner Memorial Awards Dinner in conjunction with GAC.
