More Than 4,000 Turn Out for ‘Co-op Connection’ in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis.—More than 4,000 people turned out for the “Co-op Connection” event sponsored by Summit Credit Union, CUNA Mutual Group and others, which celebrates cooperatives in Wisconsin.

Now in its eighth year, Co-op Connection is designed to show how cooperatives benefit local communities and economies.

“The gathering provides an opportunity not only for participants to embrace the cooperatives in their community, but also for the cooperatives themselves to work together and develop lasting relationships,” Summit CU said.

“We were thrilled so many people joined us at our Co-op Connection event this year,” said Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem. “Co-ops offer a business model of local ownership and an investment in their communities. Making that kind of an impact is the beauty of cooperatives, and we’re proud to help our neighbors learn more about them at Co-op Connection.”

In addition to Summit Credit Union and CUNA Mutual Group, the event was also sponsored by UW Center for Cooperatives and Wisconsin Credit Union League, among others. Local cooperatives that participated included Organic Valley, Willy Street Co-op and REI-Madison.
