WASHINGTON—More than 20,000 CUNA members have weighed in with Congressional representatives to tell their credit union’s story as part of CUNA’s Member Appreciation Program (MAP).
CUNA Chief Political Officer Richard Gose shared that total, emphasizing the importance of the grassroots efforts CUNA, the leagues and credit unions are undertaking.
MAP is designed to raise CU member awareness of what credit unions are and the challenges they face prior to any sort of crises or request from their CU in which member engagement is needed, according to CUNA.
Separately, Gose also noted that CUNA will soon cut the ribbon on its project with Philadelphia credit unions, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), staff from the Democratic National Convention Committee, and RealClearPolitics. As CUToday.info previously reported, the “Volunteer Day” project built a Health and Wellness Garden at CHOP’s Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pediatric Care Center.
Gose said CUNA has a number of events planned for both conventions. CUNA’s “middle class” campaign, an effort by the trade association to emphasize to Washington that the middle class and credit unions go hand in hand, will play a key role in the events, Gose said. The Republican National Convention will be held July 18-21 in Cleveland. The Democratic National Convention takes place July 25-28 in Philadelphia.
