KINGSPORT, Tenn.–Eastman Credit Union is reporting approximately 1,000 members have been affected by card fraud, including potential compromise of PINs. The
credit union told local Channel 11 it has not yet identified any skimmers located on its ATMs.
Eastman CU has posted a security alert on its website announcing the increased level of card fraud being reported and stating it could be related to card skimmers that have been found at local gas stations.
"The fraud itself took place at ATMS so they used debit card information that they obtained somewhere," Executive Vice President Kelly Price told News Channel 11. "We've been in contact with local authorities to help us investigate this.”
ECU has been reassuring its approximately 220,000 members that they are protected from any fraudulent charges related to the criminal activity.
