HELENA, Mont.– Montana’s Credit Unions is has named a new president and CEO to succeed the retiring Tracie Kenyon, who has lead the organization for nearly 22 years. Montana’s CU trade association has named Gerry Singleton to lead the organization.
Singleton has spent almost 25 years as the VP-Credit Union System Relations at CUNA Mutual Group, and according to Montana’s CUs, Singleton stood out from the others with his “experience, his passion, and his vision for how Montana’s Credit Unions will continue to be an independent and thriving resource.”
“I am thrilled to join Montana's Credit Unions as their next president/ CEO. Montana's Credit Unions — its top-notch staff, committed board, and passionate member credit unions — has been highly effective in delivering quality advocacy, programs, and services across the state, truly living out its mission of ‘Enhancing a Thriving Montana Community’,” said Singleton. “Montanans and the communities in which they live need credit unions now more than ever as they face today's challenges, and we are uniquely positioned to serve them through the credit union difference.”
Singleton is a long-time resident of Belgrade, Montana, who, according to the organization loves spending time with his family, hiking, and connecting to his community.
During his time in the credit union movement, he has served on various national boards of directors and advisory groups, including the board of the National Credit Union Foundation, the board of the CUNA Mutual Foundation, the Advisory Board of the CUFinHealth Fund, and as an active Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE), with designations for CaribDE and Africa DE, as well.
‘High-Caliber’ Talent
“One exciting recent accomplishment of which he is proud relates to commissioning a study on ‘Thriving Small Credit Unions’ in partnership with the Filene Research Institute,” Montana’s Credit Unions said. “It is exciting that we have been able to find such high caliber credit union talent right in our backyard, and truly a testament to the incredibly well-respected entity that Montana’s Credit Unions has become.”
