CIRCLE, Mont.–McCone County FCU has changed its name. The 63-year-old credit union is now Grasslands Federal Credit Union.
The name change follows a merger with Fallon County FCU and the resulting expanded field of membership.
The $82-million Grasslands FCU said it has been growing its field of membership across eastern Montana, expanding from one county into six in 2013, and from six to 13 counties served in 2018. The credit union now serves more than 3,500 members.
“We are joined together as a community by our choice of the grasslands region that we call home” said Emily Guldborg, manager and CEO of Grasslands FCU. “It made sense to move to a name that represented not only our original core county, but was inclusive of our other 12 counties. It also helped us solve the misperception that we only offer membership to those in McCone County.”
