Montana CEO Honored; Mississippi CUA Elects Board

HELENA, Mont.–Montana’s credit unions have named their 2017 Professional of the Year, while in Mississippi the state CU association has named its new board.

Debra Evans, president and CEO of Embark Credit Union, has been named the 2017 Montana Credit Union Professional of the Year.

Evans has worked in financial services for 38 years and spent the last 17 years in the credit union industry. As CEO for the last seven years, Evans has managed a complete remodel of the Embark Credit Union main branch—a name change and rebranding of the credit union.

“We’re so fortunate to have someone like Debra in Montana’s credit union industry,” said Tracie Kenyon, president and CEO of Montana’s Credit Unions, in a statement. “Debra has made a profound impact in her community and is a shining example of our cooperative principles.”

Evans serves on the board of directors for United Way, Great Falls Symphony board, Red Cross board and the Great Falls International Airport board. In 2006, Evans was presented with the Great Falls Chamber Athena Award and continues to mentor other award recipients.

In Mississippi, meanwhile, the Mississippi Credit Union Association has re-elected four board members to three-year terms: Betty Barrett, Magnolia Federal Credit Union (Jackson); Billy Bridges, Mutual Credit Union (Vicksburg); Elmer Dickens, Gulf Coast Community Federal Credit Union (Gulfport); and Brig. Gen. Richard Moss (retired), Keesler Federal Credit Union (Biloxi).

The MSCUA board officers are Chairman James B. Smith, Jr., Singing River Federal Credit Union (Moss Point); Vice Chairman Billy Bridges, Mutual Credit Union (Vicksburg); Treasurer Ray Scott, Southern Mississippi Federal Credit Union (Hattiesburg); and Past Chairman John Gibbons, Triangle Federal Credit Union (Columbus).

Board members include Shelia Bridges, CommFirst Federal Credit Union (Jackson); Elmer Dickens, Gulf Coast Community Federal Credit Union (Gulfport); Bo Pittman, MUNA Federal Credit Union (Meridian); Chris Hammond, Central Sunbelt Federal Credit Union (Laurel); Brig Gen Richard Moss (retired), Keesler Federal Credit Union (Biloxi); Katie Nelson, Eagle Express Federal Credit Union (Jackson); Betty Barrett, Magnolia Federal Credit Union (Jackson); and Kathy Scarbrough, Navigator Credit Union (Pascagoula).
