JAMESTOWN, N.D.–A North Dakota Credit Union has reached into Minnesota with a merger. The $796-million First Community CU has absorbed the $14-million Agassiz Federal Credit Union in Crookston, Minn.
In a released statement the credit unions said the combination “will result in a wider range of services and locations available to members of both institutions while preserving the friendly, quality service of a member-owned, strong and secure community credit union.”
“First Community is committed to providing great service to our members and forming strong relationships within our communities,” said Steve Schmitz, president of FCCU. “This merger is a great opportunity that will benefit both credit unions.”
Agassiz FCU had been founded 1953 and had approximately 1,500 members.
