Mike Beall Exits CEO Job at NCBA To Take Position With CU Consulting Firm

Michael Beall

WASHINGTON–Michael Beall, the long-time credit union league president, has resigned as president of the National Cooperative Business Association and will join Olympia, Wash.-based Credit Union Strategic Planning as a senior consultant.

CU Strategic Planning said Beall will provide "hands-on consulting" with both CUs and other cooperatives.

“My calling is to work directly with cooperatives and credit unions. After living the first half of my professional career in association management, I’m following my passion to the front-lines of the movement," said Beall in a statement.

"Mike has a reputation for big accomplishments in the emerging field of credit union community development. He is well-respected as establishing best practice programs replicated by other leagues," said CU Strategic Planning's Jamie Strayer. "His relationship with CU Strategic Planning, is in part what cemented that reputation. He saw the potential of community development and spearheaded Community Development Across Missouri, setting a record in 2013 when 10 credit unions won CDFI grants, the highest number awarded in a single state in the CDFI Fund’s 20-year history.

In a statement on the NCBA’s website, association Chairman Andrew Jacob said, “I have reluctantly accepted the resignation of Michael Beall as CEO/president of the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA). Michael, who was hired as head of NCBA CLUSA on September 28, 2012, has decided to pursue other career opportunities. In his three-year tenure as CEO/president, Michael successfully made numerous contributions to the financial and business operations of NCBA CLUSA.”

Beall had previously served as president of the Missouri Credit Union Association and the Maryland and District of Columbia Credit Union Association.

The NCBA has named Judy Ziewacz as interim CEO.
