Midwest America FCU Announces New CEO; Two CEOs Announce Retirement Plans

FORT WAYNE, Ind.–MidWest America FCU has named a new president and CEO to succeed Greg Mohr, who is retiring after 14 years of service to the CU.

David Shadburne

The $797.8-million MidWest America has selected David Shadburne to lead the organization.

Shadburne most recently served as EVP and chief strategy officer with Park Community, Louisville, Ky., where he had served since 2015.

“I am incredibly excited and humbled to have been chosen as the next CEO for MidWest America,” said Shadburne. “I believe that together we will grow and bring MidWest America to the next level. I am looking forward to working with the team and the board.”

The credit union said Shadburne is very involved in the community, having served on various boards and participated in various community activities.  He is a licensed attorney and certified public accountant.

Shirley Cooper

CEO to Retire in Virginia

In Richmond, Va.,Credit Union of Richmond President and CEO Shirley Cooper has announced her plans to retire in the summer of 2023. 

“I have loved my time leading the credit union over all these years, and I am proud of what we have accomplished,” said Cooper. “I am sure the next CEO, in conjunction with our devoted employees and Board, will continue our track record of growth and serving our membership and I look forward to seeing the credit union’s success in the future.”

The $69.6-million credit union has retained D. Hilton Associates to oversee the search.

Mindee Kohlman

CEO to Retire in North Dakota

In Minot, N.D., Mindee Kohlman has announced plans to step down as CEO at the $165million Aspire Community FCU after four years in credit unions, including 35 years at Aspire.  The retirement is set to take place later this year.

“Mindee will be difficult to replace. She retains a wealth of knowledge from her years of service, and we could not be more grateful for her leadership and dedication to this institution during that time,” said Board President Jason Rohrer in a statement to the Dakotas Credit Union Association. “The board of directors is committed to finding the right candidate to fill

Mindee’s shoes; she has been a tremendous asset.”
​The goal is to have someone hired before Kohlman retires to provide an opportunity for training time with Kohlman serving as a resource as the new CEO gets settled, according to the DCUA.
