Michigan League Partners With State On Retirement Seminars

LANSING, Mich.–The Michigan CU League this month will be sponsoring a series of events put on by the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) aimed at helping more people be prepared for retirement.

The Securing Mi Financial Future events are in response to Gov. Rick Snyder’s Special Message to the Legislature on Aging, which emphasized the need for collaboration between public and private financial organizations. These events will provide Michigan residents with the resources they need to enjoy financial security during retirement, the MCUL said.

“Partnering with DIFS to help consumers plan for retirement is a great example of how the public and private sectors, working side by side, can create positive opportunities for Michigan residents,” MCUL President/CEO Dave Adams said.

According to the league and the DIFS, seminar attendees will enjoy:

  • Informative presentations on vital financial topics
  • Access to subject matter experts and special guest speakers
  • One-on-one appointments with financial professionals
  • A free copy of the Reinventing Mi Retirement and Building Mi Financial Future toolkits

The seminars will be held Oct. 5, Oct. 13, Oct. 20 and Oct. 26, with two of the events being held at credit unions.
