Meritus CEO Roy Announces Retirement Date; Successor Named

LAFAYETTE, La.–Connie S. Roy, president and CEO of Meritus Credit Union, has announced a retirement date for later this year. The credit union has also announced a successor.

Roy announced plans to retire effective Sept. 15 after 32 years with the credit union. Roy said she is looking forward to spending more quality time with her family, pursuing hobbies, volunteering and traveling.

CU Chief Administrative Officer Brian Leger will succeed Roy as president/CEO.

During her tenure, Roy has overseen growth to $200 million in assets and 22,000 members from $40 million in assets and 7,000 members.

“On behalf of the board, senior management, and staff of Meritus Credit Union, I want to say thank you to Connie for her years of service and the leadership role she has played in making Meritus CU the extraordinary organization it is today,” said Meritus Board Chair Dale Henderson. “Connie’s contributions will always be valued and remembered. Her hard work, commitment, and dedication to the financial health of our credit union and community are worthy of admiration. We wish Connie a happy, fulfilling and well-deserved retirement.”

New CEO Has Extensive Background

Leger comes to the CEO position with 15 years of experience in several capacities at Meritus CU. In addition to serving as chief administrative officer, Leger has overseen community development, human resources, marketing, IT and more. 

“Like Connie, Brian shares a passion for this organization, its members, staff, and communities we serve and we look forward to continued success under his leadership,” said Henderson.
