WICHITA–One of the top women's college basketball players in the country along with a male basketball player now have name, image and likeness agreements with Meritrust Credit Union.
With college athletes now permitted to participate in endorsement deals, the credit union has entered into agreements with Kansas State University's Ayoka Lee, the NCAA Division I women's basketball single-game scoring record holder (61), and Cam Carter, who plays for the men’s team.
Meritrust had earlier entered into an NIL deal with University of Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels.
Terms of the deals were not released.
Meritrust said the agreements focus on aiding student-athletes in better understanding money management, with education and mentorship as key components.
"We are incredibly excited to work with these athletes who are not only exceptionally talented, but hardworking and passionate individuals," said Meritrust President and CEO James Nastars in a statement. "We believe in the power of financial education, and through this partnership, we aim to equip Cam and Ayoka with the tools and knowledge they need to build a strong financial foundation for their future."
‘Spreading Awareness’
Added Lee, who is working toward a master's degree in couple and family therapy, "It’s important for me to use my platform as a student athlete to spread awareness around important topics. Money management being one of them, I want my peers to make sure they are learning the importance of financial management."
