Meritrust CU Plans To Purchase Building For New HQ

WICHITA, Kans.—Meritrust Credit Union has signed a letter of intent to purchase the 10-story Cargill Protein building in downtown Wichita.
According to a report in the Wichita Business Journal, Meritrust intends to move approximately 150 administrative and support positions to the building at 151 N. Main St.

Meritrust officials said the credit union is out of room at its existing headquarters at 8710 E. 32nd Street North, where the credit union has been located for 12 years, the newspaper reported.

“Meritrust has experienced much growth in our markets in recent years, and our current administrative office space is quickly becoming too small for our team," Meritrust CEO James Nastars told the Journal. "While we’re looking forward to the new space, we’re also eager for the opportunity to increase our community commitment in the downtown area for decades to come."

The downtown site would provide a central location for Meritrust employees and would allow the organization to contribute to the economic growth of the city’s core, the CU stated.

A move would not take place until 2018, the Journal reported. Details on the offer for the building have not been disclosed.
