DENVER–Members of the $22-million Porter FCU have voted in favor of merging into the $63.3-million Columbine FCU in Centennial, Colo.
The credit union reported that 87% of its 1,507 members voted in favor of the combination.
"This merger is a historic day for both credit unions, as the Porter membership will benefit greatly from at least 16 new, expanded, and/or improved products and services,” said Arick Williams, president & CEO of Columbine. “We are very excited for the opportunity to modernize the member experience for 1,600 members that have supported and cared for their credit union since 1963.”
Both institutions have served their respective membership for more than 60 years. Porter FCU reported $196,247 in net income as of Sept. 30, with capital of 17.89%.
About the Credit Unions
Columbine serves the greater Denver metro area as well as various select employer groups, including the employees of Arapahoe County, City of Littleton, South Suburban Parks and Recreation, and South Metro Fire Rescue.
Porter has mostly served the employees of AdventHealth Porter Hospital in Denver. The combined CU will have more than 8,000 members.
‘Expanded Network’
“Members of both credit unions can look forward to an expanded network of branches and increased access to ATMs,” Columbine FCU said in a statement. “The merger will provide the Porter membership with enhanced digital banking services, a broader range of loan and deposit products, and access to financial advisors, education, and counseling services. There will be opportunities to engage in Columbine’s community development activities and support the Columbine Connects Foundation.”
