Member Of A Credit Union Pioneer Family Featured In Podcast

Bill Herring

WASHINGTON–Bill Herring, well known to many in credit unions for his long career at Cincinnati Central Credit Union and as a member of a pioneer family in credit unions, is the latest to be featured on the podcast “Murmurings,” which is produced by the National Credit Union Foundation.

Herring, who worked in credit unions for more than 40 years, is the son of Louise Herring, who is often referred to as the “Mother of Credit Unions.”  During the podcast Herring shares some of the insights and stories from his career.

“When I would go to some of the meetings, Louise would often quote [Roy] Bergengren and others to constantly remind the credit union folks to ‘keep purpose constant’ and that ‘we’re on an ever-changing path in our credit union. but with a never changing purpose’… The cooperative principles and the credit union philosophy need to be your compass,” Herring says during the interview.

The Foundation said it seeks to use Murmurings to highlight individual and organizational best practices around financial education, financial well-being, philosophy and philanthropy in the credit union movement.
