LOWELL, Mass.– At the start of 2017, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union reported it set out to make financial wellness a key focus for both its membership and its employees.

As part of the initiative, Jeanne D’Arc has now launched a new financial wellness program for employees called “A Healthier You.”

A Healthier You is an online platform that’s built to help Jeanne D’Arc employees maximize their financial wellness,” the credit union said in a statement. “This program consists of 24 modules that each cover different topics such as credit cards, Social Security, building an emergency savings, retirement, investing and many more. A friendly voice takes users through the interactive modules, explaining the ins and outs of each topic.”

At the end of each module, employees have the opportunity to assess what they learned and decide the actions they will take to solidify their financial wellness moving forward. Each employee has his or her own personal log-in credentials, so they can take the modules at their own pace, Jeanne D’Arc said.

“We understand that financial wellness goes far beyond the basics,” said President/CEO Mark S. Cochran in a statement. “This new program encompasses the many different aspects of finances that we all encounter at some point in our lives.”

Before launching the program, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union said it also created and distributed a survey for staff members to submit. The survey included questions to determine how employees felt about their finances: Are they comfortable or frustrated? Could they handle the stress of a financial emergency?  Do they have clear goals for their financial future?

“It’s so important for employees to evaluate where they stand in their financial lives. When we are financially well as an organization, we can better serve our members and help them achieve their own financial health,” said Cochran.

There are also added incentives for those employees that use the program, the credit union said. Each time an employee completes six modules, they will receive a special prize such as a Dunkin Donuts gift card, and Jeanne D’Arc branded incentives, such as a pop socket phone stand, refillable water bottle, travel coffee mug and a beach towel. Upon finishing the entire program, employees will also receive a certificate of completion, which recognizes their commitment to making their financial wellness a priority, the CU said.
