Man With Life-Threatening Gunshot Wounds Walks Into Alabama Credit Union

MOBILE, Ala.— A man suffering from what police said were self-inflicted gunshot wounds walked into a New Horizons Credit Union branch on Airport Boulevard on Thursday, telling employees he had shot himself twice before being rushed to a hospital, according to Fox10 News.

Mobile Police told Fox10 the man was alert and talking when first responders arrived, but officers said the gunshot wounds to his chest were considered life-threatening. Police said the man still had the gun with him inside the credit union, but did not brandish it, and no one else was injured.

Investigators roped off the entrance to the credit union as well as a home on Hillview Road while they worked to determine what happened. A Mobile Police officer told Fox10 investigators had not confirmed whether the man came from that residence.

“It was a scary moment for customers and employees alike, especially since it’s relatively close to lunchtime or right after the lunchtime hour,” an officer told Fox10.

Neighbors told the station they heard gunshots and emergency sirens. Police said they are still trying to piece together exactly what occurred.
