Man Who Threatened Florida Credit Union Shot And Killed By Deputies

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. — A man who allegedly threatened Florida Credit Union staff was shot and killed by Bradford County sheriff’s deputies Tuesday evening, according to WCJB.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Michael Crawford, first made threats to Florida Credit Union’s call center on Monday, Sheriff Gordon Smith said. The following day, Crawford entered the credit union’s Starke branch visibly armed with a handgun, further escalating concerns for staff safety.

Deputies later tracked Crawford to his father’s home on Northwest County Road 225 near State Road 16. According to Sheriff Smith, when deputies attempted to make contact with Crawford around 7 p.m., he exited the home carrying two firearms. Despite attempts to de-escalate the confrontation, deputies opened fire. Crawford was struck and died at the scene. No deputies were injured, WCJB said.
