TAYLORVILLE, Utah–A man who robbed a credit union here forgot something—leaving the keys to the getaway car on a teller counter.
According to police, David Hamson allegedly robbed a branch of America First Credit Union by telling two employees he had a gun. He took the cash given to him, stuffed it into a bag, raced out of the branch and jumped into a white car. And that’s when police say he realized he had left the keys back inside.
But his problems didn’t end there.
Forced to run away on foot, police allege Hamson’s bag of cash got caught on something and ripped, sending the “stolen money flying,” according to News4 Utah.
Witnesses helped police track him down and Hamson was soon arrested.
News 4 Utah said Hamson is a “known suspect in bank robberies” and has admitted to the credit union robbery.
Much of the stolen money has been recovered, police say.
