SANDY, Utah—A man here reportedly was able to steal funds from several credit unions by using fake U.S. passports.
A man whom police are attempting to identify used the counterfeit U.S. passports to fraudulently withdraw more than $17,000 from Sandy credit unions.
The Sandy City Police Department said the man used a counterfeit passport to withdraw $7,000 from a Deseret First Credit Union branch. The same man later went to a UFirst Credit Union branch and withdrew about $10,300 from three other accounts, police said, according to GephardtDaily.com.
