NEW HAVEN, Conn.–A man who made numerous threats to injure and kill people, including against a credit union, has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
According to the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Gary Joseph Gravelle has been indicted on 16 counts, including for allegedly sending hoax letters to the Islamic Center of New London, that claimed to contain anthrax. Gravelle, who is also known as Roland Prejean, claimed to be part of the white separatist organization American Knights of Anarchy, the indictment states.
The indictment also includes 12 other counts of maliciously conveying false information about an explosive and one count of making threats against President Trump.
Threat to Kill President
Gravelle allegedly tried to send the president an envelope with a white, powdery substance and a letter reading, “I, Gary Gravelle ... as a faithful soldier of the AKA, am coming to KILL Donald Trump,” according to prosecutors.
Among the institutions and individuals against which Gravelle allegedly made threats were First Bristol FCU, Fellowship House, Connecticut Mental Health Center, Continuum of Care, the NAACP, the Abraham A. Ribicoff Federal Building, Old Saybrook Center, Burlington International Airport, the Federal Detention Center SeaTac in Seattle, and a probation officer’s house.
Gravelle made the alleged threats via email, phone and handwritten mail, according to documents.
He was arrested Sept. 8, 2018, for violating the terms of his supervised release, having been sentenced in 2013 for sending “threatening communications.”
