Man Falls From Ceiling As Police Nab ATM Theft Ring

NAVARRE, Fla.—Police have arrested four men believed to be part of an ATM robbery ring who were caught while allegedly attempting to burglarize an ATM at Eglin Federal Credit Union here.

Arrested were Markett Simpkins, Donald Robinson, Noral Scott and Johnnie Lee, who now face charges including criminal mischief and burglary, including possession of burglary tools and impairing a dwelling by disabling phone or power in furtherance of burglary, according to the local sheriff’s office. Three of the individuals were arrested after being observed breaking into the facility, while a fourth was arrested as the driver who was attempting to flee and who struck an Escambia County vehicle in the process.

According to police, three of the suspects were surrounded inside the credit union by law enforcement. While hiding in the roof of the building, police said one suspect fell through the ceiling tiles to the floor. The arrest follows work by multiple law enforcement agencies into a suspected burglary ring that has been hitting safes and ATMs.
