JACKSON COUNTY, Miss.–An Alabama man has been arrested here after allegedly attempting to rob a credit union for a second time in a matter of months. He had also been arrested earlier for attempting to rob another credit union.
According to authorities, Jeremy Branch of Chickasaw, Ala., was arrested after authorities allege he was caught trying to rob a branch of Navigator Credit Union in Hurley, Miss.
Authorities said Branch also attempted to rob the same branch in March of this year. However, at that time Branch was allegedly wearing long sleeves and a face covering that prevented him from being identified.
In the most recent robbery attempt, the sheriff alleged Branch also attempted to disguise himself by wearing long sleeves, a hat and a face mask.
“However, an observant veterinarian next door to Navigator noticed a man being suspicious and recognized the white truck that was used in the March robbery,” reported WLOX. “She called authorities. When a deputy arrived, Branch was found with a note in his pocket saying that he was armed and demanding money, said the sheriff.”
According to authorities, the same MO was used by Branch in January of 2020 when he was arrested following the rubbering of a branch of Singing River FCU in Moss Point, Miss.
Police said Branch was not armed in the most recent robbery, but he is now facing charges of armed robbery for the robberies in January and March and attempted robbery for the most recent robbery.
He is being held at Jackson County Adult Detention Center without bond.
