Man Arrested After Making Threats Against CU’s Employees

MIDDLETOWN, Penn.–A man has been arrested here and charged with making threats against employees of Members 1st Credit Union on three occasions.

Michael Keith Chaney, 63, threatened to shoot an employee of the credit union June 14 while he was at the East Main Street branch in Middletown, according to police. On July 5 and July 11, Chaney allegedly made similar threats by phone, according to Pressandjournal.com.

Chaney has been charged with two felony counts of criminal use of a communication facility, three felony counts of making terroristic threats, and three summary counts of harassment.

He also faces separate charges in Lower Swatara Township for allegedly having started a fire on the front porch of a residence, PressandJournal.com reported, as well as separate charges for indecent assault against a person less than 13 years of age, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with a minor.

Police did not say why Chaney made the threats against the credit union employees.
