WATERVILLE, Maine–Maine’s credit unions are once again ensuring local food pantries have enough to help feed the hungry this winter.
The Maine Credit Union League presented the Good Shepherd Food Bank with a check for $33,000 at an assembly at the George Mitchell Elementary School in Waterville.
Over the past five years partnering with Good Shepherd, the school has supplied more than 60,000 meals to children and their families, according the league.
Members of third grade classes read testimonials they wrote of why having healthy meals for their classmates is so important, the league added.
Since 1990, the Maine Credit Union League’s Campaign to End Hunger has raised more than $8 million for the cause.
