Maine Savings Announces Expanded Paid Child Leave Policy

HAMPDEN, Maine–Maine Savings FCU here announced it will now provide employees with up to eight weeks of paid leave for absence due to pregnancy related disability, or for the birth of a son or daughter and to care for the newborn child, or for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption.

According to the credit union, the benefit gives Maine Savings’ employees the opportunity to spend critical, bonding time with their child without the added financial pressure faced by so many new parents, WAGM reported.

This paid time off (PTO) is in addition to the standard PTO provided employees, Maine Savings said, and will be allocated for the eight weeks immediately following the qualifying event. Employees must have worked for the company for at least 36 months before becoming eligible for the additional paid leave.
