WESTBROOK, Maine–Cris Wescott has been named the interim president/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League and its subsidiary, Synergent, filling a post being vacated by Todd Mason, who plans to return to his home state of Michigan.
Wescott has more than 36 years with the combined organizations and currently serves as CFO, the league said.
“Our board is in full agreement that both organizations are in a very strong position financially and with respect to its leadership,” said David Desjardins, chair of the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent board. “We have no doubts that Cris will build on Todd’s success and work alongside a tremendously talented leadership team to navigate a new path forward for the League and Synergent’s members and customers.”
According to the MCUL, until Mason leaves later this summer Wescott will work closely with him and the management team to ensure a smooth transition. A national executive search will commence within the next 30 to 60 days to find permanent leaders to oversee the organizations, the league said, with the board aiming to make a final decision by the end of the year or early 2024.
‘Appreciate the Trust’
“I appreciate the board’s trust in me to lead the league and Synergent into a new chapter,” said Wescott. “While I am excited about this opportunity, I will certainly miss collaborating with my friend, Todd Mason. He has strengthened both Synergent and Maine’s credit union movement by expanding our reach, nurturing our growth, and carrying out our People Helping People philosophy through exemplary service. Todd is leaving us in a solid spot, and I cannot thank him enough for all that he has done throughout his six years with our organizations.”
In addition to Wescott, the league noted its senior leadership team is comprised of Chief Information Officer Tyler Hudson and Chief Relationship Officer Scott Johnsen.
