PORTLAND, Maine–The Maine Credit Union League and subsidiary company Synergent said they have selected Todd Mason to lead the organizations as their president/CEO to succeed the retiring John Murphy.
Mason is currently chief strategy officer for RouteOne, an indirect automotive lending technology company.
In 2016 Murphy announced his plans to retire in June 2017 following 44 years of service to credit unions, including 25 years as the president/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent.
Prior to his current position, Mason spent 19 years with the Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates, where he served in a variety of capacities ranging from vice president of technology, education and marketing to chief operating officer for CU Solutions Group. He also helped launch the cooperative venture League InfoSight, where he served as its chief operating officer.
“The boards are very pleased to have selected Todd as our next leader,” stated Board Chairman and Connected CU CEO Rick Lachance in a statement. “We believe he is very much aligned with our values, culture and shared vision for our organizations. His extensive leadership experience, with both a technology organization and working with innovative credit union trade association services, allows Todd to bring unique skills to our organizations. Our boards look forward to the innovation and service commitment that he will bring to the credit unions we serve.”
Mason is scheduled to join the Maine league and Synergent on April 24.
“I am honored by the board’s decision, and I am fortunate to be taking the helm of a strong organization and legacy John Murphy has created with the support of his staff and the credit unions they serve,” said Mason in a statement. “My vision is to build on that, and help credit unions be at the right place, at the right time with the right services, wherever member financial decisions are made. As a result, my focus will be on delivery of innovative technologies to help credit unions serve their members as well as excellence in advocacy, strong governmental affairs, and providing timely education and information.”
The Maine league has 100% affiliation with its 58 member credit unions, which serve over 50% of the state’s population.
A subsidiary of the Maine league, Synergent provides credit unions with technology services, offering the Episys Core Processing Platform by Symitar. Synergent also provides credit unions with shared branching, statement processing, debit/ATM card services, check processing and support services, and direct marketing services.
Together, the Maine league and Synergent employ 163 people.
