MWCUA to Host Hybrid In-Person, Virtual Conference Beginning Today

PHOENIX/DENVER– The Mountain West Credit Union Association said it will hostits first-ever hybrid annual meeting and convention May 3-7, with the in-person event taking place at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz. The meeting will also be held virtually on an interactive online platform.

The MWCUA said the  event will begin with a pre-conference virtual session on May 3 and conclude with the annual Children’s Miracle Network/Credit Unions for Kids celebration on May 7.

According to the MWCUA, the dual programmed conference offers separate track speakers and presentations, along with combined live cast events, such as the organization’s Annual Business Meeting set for May 6. There are also specific events geared towards fostering collaboration among the organizations’ young professionals’ group, the association added.

“We were unable to meet last year due to the onset of the pandemic, so it’s been two years since we’ve had a conference. We are leading the way with a unique approach to this year’s hybrid event, offering flexibility while providing an opportunity to gather together again,” said Scott Earl, president and CEO of MWCUA. “There is a tremendous amount of excitement and enthusiasm around this year’s Annual Meeting & Convention – we are all hopeful for a return to normal, all the while realizing we will not take it for granted again.” 

More Than 150 Expected in Person

The MWCUA said the in-person event will see 150 attendees representing 42 member credit unions. The virtual event will have 110 attendees representing 36 member credit unions. Additionally, onsite will have 86 vendors and the virtual exhibit hall will have 24 vendors.

“In-person attendees will enjoy a traditional conference experience, while following health and safety protocols. The in-person conference features the Mountain West Foundation’s annual fundraising golf tournament, the Association Annual Business Meeting, the Association Awards Banquet and a full array of sessions on advocacy, the economy and business environment, technology, risk management, best practices for boards and more,” the MWCUA said. “The virtual attendees have a robust calendar of sessions, coffee chats, virtual gatherings, and access to live participation in the Association Business Meeting, a keynote session titled Courageous Cultures, and the closing keynote titled’ Lead to Win’ with Superbowl 50 Champion Ryan Harris.”
