MC FCU Names New President and CEO

DANVILLE, Penn.–MC Federal Credit Union has named a new president and CEO.

Elba Arenas

The $212.3-million CU has selected Elba Arenas to lead the organization and succeed Jim Barbarich, who retired after serving the credit union for over 25 years in a variety of positions. For the prior 18 months, Arenas has served as president and chief member experience officer. She began her career with the credit union as western regional manager in 2016.

In addition, Arenas also spearheads “The Road to Financial Wellness,” a financial literacy course she created in 2016 that seeks to improve the financial well-being of members. Arenas and the credit union received the national Desjardin Adult Financial Literacy Award for the program in 2022 and 2023.

The 13,260-member credit union said Arenas has  demonstrated effective leadership skills and a strong vision for business development that helped strengthen the company’s performance and risk controls.

A ‘Unique Ability’

“Throughout her career, Elba has demonstrated the unique ability to foster constructive dialogue between colleagues and business partners to improve performance, build trust, and harness the talents of different individuals to drive success,” the credit union said. “Elba’s passion for our credit union is truly contagious, and we look forward to significant future MC Federal successes under her energetic leadership.”
