NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Betty Hobbs, who was well-known to many in credit unions during her career as a credit union CEO in Tennessee, has died.
Hobbs served as president/ CEO of the Tennessee Credit Union, including when it was formerly Nashville Teachers Credit Union and then Tennessee Teachers Credit Union, for 40 years. The Credit Union Executives Society named Hobbs as its Credit Union Executive of the Year in 1984, and she was also inducted into the Society’s Hall of Fame in 1988.
Hobbs also served as president of the Tennessee Credit Union League, on the board of CUES and the Education Credit Union Council, and was a speaker at both local and national events.
Hobbs is survived by her husband, Doug Wonder, and three children, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
