Long-Time Montana CEO Announces Plans to Retire

LEWISTOWN, Mont.—Bob Bjelland, president and CEO of Fergus FCU here, has announced his retirement effective at year-end after 35 years with the credit union.

During his career Bjelland has overseen growth to more than $70 million in assets from $4 million. The 18-employee Fergus Federal has 5,770 members.

“The highlight of my career at Fergus FCU will forever be my talented team and our incredible members,” said Bjelland. “I will always remember the important part they have played throughout my years at the credit union.”

Prior to joining Fergus FCU, Bjelland served as VP with the state’s CU trade group, Montana’s Credit Unions, for six years, and later acted on its board. He also served as CFO at Treasure State Corporate CU for three years. In 2009, Bjelland was named Montana Credit Union’s Professional of the Year.

“It has truly been an honor to serve Fergus FCU for the past 35 years,” said Bjelland. “It has been a wonderful ride watching the credit union become what it is today. I am confident that it will continue its success through the next generation of leaders.”
