Long-Time CU Leader Passes Away

LONGVIEW, Texas—Thomas Kirkindoll, former CEO of East Texas Professional Credit Union here, has passed away. Kirkindoll, 76, died from cancer.

"It is amazing, and this has happened to me for years, but even especially this week, the number of people that have come up to me this week and said, 'I loved your dad. He gave me a chance when no one else would,’" son Gary Kirkindoll told the Longview News-Journal.

The senior Kirkindoll spent much of his life working at the CU, retiring as president in 2004. He graduated from Longview High School in 1957, and served with various local charitable groups.

“To me, his position at the credit union gave him the opportunity to do what he loved to do, which is love people," said Kirkindoll’s son.
